Broken Mirage

1950 József Nemes’s family is deported to a sheepfold in the country.  The camp commander tells prisoners that they will all die there. They work 12 hours a day for next to nothing.  Three years pass. Hope and desperation. They leave the camp with only the clothes on their backs. Those tragic years are shown through the eyes of an adolescent who was seeking the mirage he had only read about before, but found an inhuman, deceitful system, “the broken mirage.”
