Amorous Geography – My Toscana (Tibi at the Lake Balaton)
Tibor Kiss, ‘Tibi’ is a strange and versatile man: he is musician, artist, poet and writes texts for songs. He is a sensitive and open
person, although he does not like publicity and the ‘world of stars’. He dislike appearing in the media. He has experienced the
peaks of success and the hell, too, but has remained the same pleasant, spontaneous ‘rock and roll guy’ as he was 21 years ago.
The guitarist, singer and head of the popular band Quimby has chosen Badacsony and its surrounding at the lake Balaton as scene
for his ‘Amorous Geography’.
‘This is the land which I really know well, I have known it since my childhood. We spent here every summer. I know the mountains,
the pathways, everything. I like the air here and like how the silence is filled with life. This land has a special aura, even if you come
here in the night or have the eyes closed, you will feel that something happens here. I think, this landscape is somehow part of the
universal human culture. I would say, this is my Toscana.’

The documentary – made between 2005 and 2012 – offers an insight into the life of a Gypsy community in a small village in Szatmar
county. The residents of the street – with the help of an American Baptist pastor were baptised by immersion seven years ago.
Has the faith brought change into their lives? Has it helped to prosper?
How persistent, how deep is their devotion to God?
Why is charisma important?
Can religion be a cohesive force in the community?
The film – among others – is looking for answers to these questions.
